Quo Vadis, Libertarians?

November 5th, 2004 · No Comments

I don’t claim to have an exactingly complete blogroll, but I have yet to see a single post from any libertarian bloggers on the (appropriately) dismal showing by Michael Badnarik.

The silence is deafening.

As I blogged earlier today:

To “Large-L Libertarians”: Heh. Either get that party straightened out and nominate some non-kooks, or disband it. I’m so tired of the whole “small-l libertarian” disclaimer.

UPDATE #1: Cal at HipHop wins the tortoise race at E+3 days:

Badnarik’s strategy during the campaign was to put the majority of the Libertarian Party’s resources into campaigning in the swing states. Badnarik’s logic was that this strategy would lead to increased media attention by affecting the turnout of the Presidential Election. This campaign was a complete failure. Badnarik suffered a media drought during the campaign. His candidacy was not a deciding factor in any of the swing states. Furthermore, Badnarik concentrated on taking votes from Bush without any success.

The best way to improve the Libertarian Party in the future is to get involved.

Sorry, I’m more for the “We have to destroy the party in order to save it” approach.

UPDATE #2: Reason chimes in (finally).
