Are We Uninterested in the Disinteresting Race?

Dave Friedman recently had a blogpost about another blogpost that confused “effect” with “affect.”
Well, how long before this headline is corrected?
And I’m not just talking about the missing “i” or about the missing “In” — I’m more interested in the incorrect use of “Disinterested” — with or without a missing “i.”
Disinterested means unbiased, as in “A judge should remain disinterested in all her cases.” Uninterested means apathetic, as in “The juror was so uninterested in the case that he fell asleep and was cited for contempt.” Clearly the reporter means uninterested and not disinterested.
Ah yes, those superior MSM journalists, with their standards and fact-checking and editors. How can we uppity bloggers possibly compete?
(Thanks to Dave for reminding me that it was his post I was thinking of.)
