Linkfest: Sunday Updates
Abbreviated version this week:
ITEM: The Supreme Court has agreed to hear an appeal to a death sentence for child rape. As I blogged previously, this will give the Court a much needed opportunity to resolve the question left unanswered in Coker v. Georgia, 433 U.S. 584 (1977): can any crime other than murder warrant the death penalty? Given the Court’s recent capital offense rulings, the safe money is on a new rule that only first-degree murder can warrant capital punishment. (Kennedy v. Louisiana, No. 07-343.)
ITEM: The City of Chicago has followed through on its threat to punish residents who don’t use (and therefore pay for) the city’s tap water by imposing a tax (not a bottle deposit, but a tax) on bottled water, under the insolent lie of “environmentalism.” Previous post here, see also here.
ITEM: On the “Who’s Your Daddy?” front — a victory in Pennsylvania (sperm donor cannot be forced to pay child support), but a defeat in Missouri (DNA evidence does not trump prior judicial determination of paternity).
ITEM: The latest from the sex offender mania? Mandatory annual polygraph tests in Pennsylvania. Just because…
ITEM: The Taser has been such a non-controversial, non-lethal device that its manufacturer is preparing to introduce the Taser Shotgun.
ITEM: The answer was “Berlin.” Returning to NYC tomorrow.

I was about to jump all over Misery just from your quote, but went to read the link.
OK let's examine the facts:
1) Salazar never bothered to show in court.
2) The judge ignored testimony that he wasn't the father.
3) Salazar was served with an order and rather than dealing with it, ignored it.
Two things are obvious:
1) Salazar needs to be removed from the gene pool just to prevent his spreading such levels of stupidity (ignoring legal items) to future generations.
2) The judge should be taken out and shot for finding against him even when his ex and her lawyer said he wasn't the father.
The one thing of note is that in Misery, stupidity abounds…. something I've known ever since I moved to KCK.
Cheers
