I for one would like to agree with Professor Hunter – obesity is definitely every bit as great a national threat as terrorism. Of course, that begs the question: how great a national threat IS terrorism? Based on the number of people who have been killed in Western countries by terrorism in the last 20 years or so, I'm going to guess that it's safe to say that obesity has been a far bigger killer. Of course, whether we should regard either as a true "national threat" capable of creating an existential crisis, well, that is indeed another story.
